The Hamilton High School Marching Huskies
The Hamilton High School Marching Huskies are a group of highly motivated musicians who perform during pregame or halftime at Hamilton football games and at AIA-sanctioned competitions. Preparation for the season begins in January, when planning begins for band camp and ends in December when we win the Division 5A-I State Football Championship (if all is right with the world!). The bulk of the time invested begins during Band Camp (July 6th through July10th) and eases off after the State Marching Festival in early November. Students rehearse Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00-8:30pm. They also dedicate Friday afternoons and evenings to our high school football games and three to four Saturdays per season for competitive events.
Marching Band Show 2009
Last year’s show is titled “Pioneers of the Old West.” Our show tells the story of the early pioneers setting out from the Mississippi to the unknown land of the Southwest. The first movement is titled “Moving West” which portrays the hardship and struggle of life on the trail. The second movement is titled “Framing the Homestead.” This movement is based on our pioneers settling down and building a new home for their families. The last movement is titled “Life on the Frontier.” This movement shows the heroism of our pioneers as they overcome the challenges of life in their new land.
